FAQ: Upgrade from a previous version of powerKNOW
If you want to upgrade from a version prior to 1.0.4 be sure to make a backup copy
of your Config.config file before starting the upgrade process (usually located
under c:\inetpub\wwwroot\powerKNOW\data\Config.config).
Upgrade process:
You do not need to uninstall the previous version of powerKNOW in order
to do an upgrade to a new version. Just follow these steps:
- Backup
It's always a good idea to do a backup of all the data and configuration.
See "FAQ: Backup" for details.
- Get Install file
If you run powerKNOW under Internet Information Server (IIS)
download
http://www.powerKNOW.com/powerknow-setup-iis-expert.exe.
If you run powerKNOW under Cassini web server
download
http://www.powerKNOW.com/powerknow-setup-expert.exe.
These are the small download sets. These sets are totally sufficient for an upgrade.
- Run installation
Run the exe file downloaded in the previous step. It will install the new
software version. Most of the configuration process of the initial
installation will be skipped. The configuration of the previous version
of powerKNOW will be used instead.
If you are upgrading from a version prior to 1.0.4 copy the
Config.config file back to it's original position.
Now you should be able to use the new version of powerKNOW. All your data
and configuration should be available.
