Edit Keyword Tree

This page is used to edit the structured keyword tree.

Normally this page can only be used by users having a user role of 'knowledge manager'. It is possible to configure powerKNOW to allow editors to change the keyword tree as well (see config key 'allowKwTree2Editor').

Keywords in powerKNOW are organized in a tree structure to be able to present a hierarchically organized knowledge base. see "Structured Keyword Tree" for details.

The complete tree of keywords is presented in a list.

To add a new root node (top level node) to the tree press 'Add Root'. Then change / edit the label of the new node in the 'Node Label' textbox.

To add a new child node to the tree: first navigate to the node which should be the "father" of the new node and select it. Press 'Add Child'. Then change / edit the label of the new node in the 'Node Label' textbox.

To add a node as a child to the parent of the current node: first navigate to the node which should be the 'brother' of the new node and select it. Press 'Add Brother'. Then change / edit the label of the new node in the 'Node Label' textbox.

To delete an existing node or subtree navigate to the node which should be deleted. Press 'Delete'. This will delete the node selected and all inferior nodes. The program will check whether one of the nodes is still in use (being assigned to a document) and will reject deletion in this case.


All your changes will be stored when you leave the dialog using a 'Store' button. Leaving the dialog with 'Cancel' will discard all changes. The following options exist:

	Alt-C	Discard all changes All changes to the tree will be discarded.
	Alt-P	The keyword tree will be prepared in a printable format. It will be shown in a seperate browser window. You can use the "Print" button of your browser to print the contents of this window.
	Alt-S	Store all changes Stores all changes you've made to the keyword tree.

Please be aware: Using links from a navigation menu (main banner, ...) other than the 'Store...' buttons described will discard whatever changes you are currently doing. These changes will be lost.
