FAQ: Reindexing existing documents

Sometimes it may be neccessary to reindex existing knowledge documents.

Possible reasons are:

Reindexing will not be neccessary for knowledge documents / attachments already correctly indexed. This is NOT a maintenance task.

In order to do the reindexing follow these steps:
  1. Enable "Store with Reindexing" in powerKNOW
    • Open the Knowledge Manager Desktop
    • Open "Configure Process"
    • Enable "Store with reindex allowed"
    • Store the changed configuration
    After this change the document editor will show a new button "Store changes with complete reindexing" in the bottom toolbar.

  2. Reindex documents where needed
    Load those documents which need reindexing into the document editor and press "Store changes with complete reindexing".

  3. Disable "Store with reindex allowed"
    After the reindexing has been done it's best to redisable "Store with reindex allowed".
